The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine is a comprehensive institution, conducting cutting-edge research and implementing it directly into their curricula and clinics. But it was these achievements that were overshadowing Penn Vet’s warm and welcoming nature, creating distance between them and their potential audiences. They needed a brand that would refresh public perceptions while maintaining their unique position as a world-class, Ivy League veterinary institution.

In rebranding Penn Vet, we embraced a strategy that paired rich, hand-drawn illustrations with compelling, authentic photography. These elements were chosen to reflect the school’s unique blend of cutting-edge science and compassionate care, creating a brand that feels both intelligent and approachable. The illustrations from Tania Yakunova, with their intricate details and warm color palettes, highlight the school’s academic rigor while adding a personal, human touch.
Curiosity Cured the Cat
We developed a brand voice that balances playfulness with intelligence, creating a tone that is as approachable as it is informed. This combination allows the brand to resonate with both prospective students and professionals in the veterinary field. By infusing light, engaging language with a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm, we captured the playful side—mirroring the compassion and joy that come with animal care. At the same time, we grounded the voice in expertise, using thoughtful phrasing to reflect the high standards and advanced research for which Penn Vet is known.
