Run. Walk. Explore.
If bridges could talk, what kind of stories would they tell? New York’s Mario M. Cuomo Bridge wasn’t just built to achieve new heights (and lengths). It was built to educate and inspire. We helped orchestrate the 3.5-mile shared-use path, and the brand surrounding it, to evoke the movement and progress of the Thruway. We designed all facets of the place including signage, sculpture and interactive displays that tell the story of the Hudson, allowing walkers, runners and bikers to immerse themselves in the river’s rich history while they get a little exercise.

Bold Design, Joyful Journey
We designed the shared use path for the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge to be both functional and uplifting. The path was made a vibrant blue to stand out, adding a sense of joy and energy to the experience. This striking color choice invites people to engage with the space, making the journey across the bridge feel more welcoming and lively, while still complementing the surrounding environment.

Ensuring Accessibility
Our wayfinding design for the Shared Use Path on the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge was crafted to complement the sleek, modern aesthetic of the path. With clean lines and intuitive placement, the signage enhances the overall experience, ensuring accessibility for all users. The design is not only visually appealing but also highly functional, offering clear directions and information in a way that seamlessly integrates with the environment, making navigation effortless and enjoyable.

Crossing Time
We designed an interactive interpretive program for the Shared Use Path and online, allowing visitors to explore the rich history of the Hudson Valley and the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Along the path, engaging displays provide insights into the region’s past, while the online component ensures that anyone, anywhere, can access this knowledge. This seamless integration of physical and digital experiences invites users to deepen their connection to the area’s heritage, offering both local visitors and distant learners a dynamic way to discover the story behind the bridge and the valley it spans.
