It’s time to move the needle.

Founded in 2015 by Nick Jonas (yeah, that Nick Jonas) and a group of change makers directly effected by this disease, Beyond Diabetes is a global non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by diabetes. They had spent the first 10 years doing truly radical work—through providing practical tools, cultivating community meetups, direct funding, and broader awareness and stigma campaigns—and it was time for their brand to catch up. They needed a refresh that would shake up the status quo around diabetes and reflect the impact of their work to date.

Beyond Diabetes taps into those surviving diagnosis and early treatment, learning to thrive, and driving awareness and change in their own communities toward a world beyond diabetes. This became essential to our strategic positioning of Beyond Diabetes as bold instigators with relentless demand for the attention and investment they deserve.

Use Your Voice

We crafted a bold and protest-inspired brand voice that could call out the stigma around diabetes and call in members of the community in the same breath. Equal parts confrontational and compassionate.

Most of Beyond Diabetes’ audiences live online, connecting through social content and community channels. The brand needed to feel provocative at that intimate digital scale, as well as on larger-than-life billboards and campaign placements.

As the largest growing chronic illness in the world, with 1 in 6 people affected, diabetes affects and connects to all of us—whether we acknowledge it or not. We knew those connections and stories need to be shared, and made room for personal intimate vignettes within the spectrum of the brand.
