Episcopal Community Services (ECS) is one of our favorite clients to date—they are great people who have been doing important work throughout the city for decades. We were tasked with rejuvenating the brand of ECS, one of Philadelphia’s most established human and social service nonprofits, to make it appeal to audiences ranging from foundations to program participants to long-time Episcopalian donors to new, enthusiastic volunteers. Not an easy task, but a project that the entire J2 team was excited to take on.
Working with them has been an amazing opportunity to create a full rebrand, complete with a comprehensive messaging strategy, identity and collateral design, and a new website.
After an in-depth discovery and inclusion process, J2 created a series of narratives that will help ECS’ create communications tailored for each of their audiences. From this highly collaborative process came the new tagline: Look Up. Challenge Poverty, which informs the entire identity system. The new logo embodies the movement of looking up, an expression of faith, perseverance, and unity. The collateral pieces were also designed to highlight beautiful photos that help tell ECS’ compelling personal stories, as seen in the 2016 Annual Report we designed for them. Their new website ties it all together, bringing this new brand to life and helping to share ECS’ mission with the world.
